El Reparo Mexican Restaurant serves up a straightforward, hearty Mexican meal in a laid-back setting on MacArthur Drive in Alexandria. This is the kind of place where locals come for familiar favorites and large portions that don’t mess around. The atmosphere is casual — no frills, but friendly staff and a lively vibe that makes it a comfortable spot for everything from weekday lunches to family dinners.

Seafood stands out here, especially if you like your dishes with a bit of a kick. The Camarones A La Diabla delivers grilled shrimp smothered in a spicy sauce that pairs well with the traditional sides of rice, beans, and tortillas. For something whole, the Mojarra Frita offers a crispy fried tilapia that feels homestyle and satisfying. If you’re after classic Mexican appetizers, the nachos here are generous — whether topped with sizzling fajitas or layered with chicken and beef, they make a good starter or shareable snack.

Lunch specials are a draw for a quick but filling meal. Options like taquitos or enchiladas come with all the standard fixings, and prices stay reasonable, making it easy to stop by regularly without worrying about breaking the bank. Portions are consistently large, so it’s the kind of place where you’ll likely leave with leftovers or a full belly.

The staff play a big role in making this a comfortable neighborhood eatery. Waiters are attentive and engaging, which adds a relaxed, friendly energy to the room without feeling over the top. It’s the kind of place where you can expect decent wait times, fresh chips and salsa, and a friendly nod from your server.

Most visitors here appreciate the straightforward and reliable vibe — a spot with solid food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a menu that covers all the Mexican classics without complication. It’s well suited for families, groups, or casual dinners when you’re craving comfort food with a bit of spice. Early evenings or weekend dinners tend to have a nice buzz without feeling rushed, making those times ideal for a visit.

The food is fresh, fast, and delicious. You get your money's worth. Biggest taco shell I've ever seen. Huge portions. Amazing salsa. One of the best I've had in several states.

I absolutely love El Raparo. The food is consistently good and the chips and salsa are always fresh. Today in particular we had a phenomenal waiter. He was attentive and even made a few jokes with me and my husband at the table, and really made the atmosphere pleasant and enjoyable. I ordered the enchiladas verdes and the rice that came with it was delicious! The vegetables sautéed with the chicken were fresh and really made the dish extremely flavorful. I definitely recommend this place.

Went for lunch on a Saturday. Rather quiet. Service was attentive and friendly. Music wasn't overbearing. Inside looked to be clean, smelled good. Atmosphere is nice- very decorated and nice tables and booths. Very large menu. Served typical food items and specials. Everything ordered came as requested. Taco and chimichanga were good and typical of most mexican restaurants. Would visit again!

It was wonderful, they were closing and they welcomed us to dine in not take out, the staff was very courteous and the food was great alot for the price. They had the best chili relleno, loaded with seasoned beef.
